The story of WOI take place through the
lives of 7 different characters. Their names are Frizz, Rendura, Norman, Rift, Tobin,
Florina, and Serene. Each of these characters showcase different conflicts and
themes of the plot. The following is a very brief description of their characteristics. (NOTE: all characters are subject to change if they can be improved).
Frizz is the main protagonist of WOI. Frizz is a timid young man that has mysteriously appeared in the Land of Light. Frizz tries to fit in with the society of the inhabitants of the land. However, he is looked down upon because he looks different. In his own interest Frizz becomes a people pleaser in order to be accepted. The story of WOI is pushed by Frizz’s conflict against society and ultimately himself.
Rendura is the second main character of WOI. Rendura is an overly protective Sehest that is cold to anyone she doesn’t know. Rendura was found by Frizz in the Jabayra caverns alone. Now Rendura acts like an older sister to Frizz and together they create a dynamic duo. Rendura wishes to find out why she exists in this world and stays with Frizz in hopes of finding out.
Norman is the third main character of WOI. Norman is a rebellious youth hoping to get away from his family and go on a journey. When Frizz invites Norman to the Land of Light he fervently accepts the invite. Norman acts like a playful jerk to everyone and wishes to be famous in the Land of Light. But, Norman finds that he misses the connections he had with his family. Norman stumbles his way through the story finding out what it means to become matured through life.
Rift is the fourth main character of WOI. Rift is a kind souled girl that comes from a darker past. Rift tries to support those around her to the best of her ability often to the neglect of herself. Having no parents growing up Rift looks to have someone love her seeing she never received love as a child. Rift tries to romantically pursue this love. But, she finds the romance to be dissatisfying. Rift stays with Frizz as she believes that his journey will give her belonging.
Tobin is the fifth main character of WOI. Tobin is a disabled child in a robotic body. Tobin was born with a life-threatening condition and in order to save him his parents robotically altered his body. However, he became neglected by his parents and eventually after a series of events ends up with Frizz. Tobin is innocent as he is a child and always carries an air of sadness with him. Tobin becomes very clingy with Rift and looks up to her. Tobin stays with the party as he sees them as the only people who will accept him.
Florina is the sixth main character of WOI. Florina is always in the background of WOI as a semi-important character. At the half way mark of the story she ends up moving in with the party. Florina is usually a peppy lass but after moving in she becomes depressed and isolated. Florina continues through the story fighting her depression and trying to become connected to the party. Florina stays with the party as she wants to help and protect others.
Serene is the seventh and final main character of WOI. Serene was raised as a cruel and cold thief in poverty. However, she did care for few that she saw to be innocent. After the events in Carmel, her home, she joins Frizz and lives with him. Serene becomes attached to Tobin having pity on him. However, she doesn’t connect well with the other characters except Frizz as she has a hard time relating to them. As the story continues there are many more elements to her character that can’t be discussed without spoilers. The most important element of Serene is that she is a foil to Frizz.
I wish for this party of characters to be the most loved and recognizable group in fiction. As such I am continually working on making them as three-dimensional as possible. There are many details I glossed over or didn’t say about them in this blog. I do plan on going over them individually in depth without diving into spoilers. As well I will eventually commission artists to create concept works of them (note: I am a terrible artist and cannot draw). Until then please follow the WOI project and share with your friends.
