Mystic Swamp

     The world I wish to be forever engraved into peoples hearts is Mystic Swamp. I saw Mystic swamp in a dream several years ago. The dream was vivid and had a nostalgic feeling. It had a profound effect on my life. I wish Mystic Swamp to have this same effect on others.

     Mystic Swamp is a dream like area located below Mystic Lake. Mystic Swamp isn’t opened up until the deforestation of Mystic Lake. Only Frizz, Coxwell, and Koralf visit it. The journey into Mystic Swamp marks a major event within WOI’s plot. The journey changes Frizz and Coxwell in serious ways. Frizz begins to realize the evils he has committed and begins his transformation to becoming virtuous. Coxwell, however, embraces his flaws and wants to live a flawed life. The contrasting divide between Coxwell and Frizz begins at Mystic Swamp.

     Mystic Swamp can be defined by one feature, its emptiness. Mystic Swamp is a very dark swamp completely covered in water with no land. Cyprus trees are everywhere with their leaves shrouding the starry sky. For much of the journey it is dark. But, there are key moments where light shines. The light is faint and far appearing as a mirage. These light sources are light bug nest. In the center of Mystic Swamp there is a large open space where the trees are spread thin. The are has shimmering stones laying across the floor of the water. There Frizz, Coxwell, and Koralf return to Mystic Lake.

     The piece of music accompanying mystic swamp is the first composition I have ever made. It has gone through some changes and I plan on creating a 2.0 version with more instruments. The piece represents Mystic swamp with long pauses between sections. The pauses represent the emptiness of Mystic Swamp and time of reflection. The main chords represent the few bits of light seen around Mystic Swamp. Finally. the swift notes represent the moving of the boat that Frizz rides.

Mystic Swamp is special in my eyes. It is the most ethereal of worlds. I need to know if this world could use improvements. It’s a world of reflection for the protagonist and antagonist and I need to know if there’s ways to improve. Please critique to the best of your ability. There are images posted of the Minecraft map that I have created for it below as well the score. If there is enough interest I will post a download for the world. Frizz, our main protagonist (Characters)

 

Frizz, our main protagonist (Characters)

     The task of creating a main protagonist is difficult. This character represents the whole project and will be who people see when talking about WOI. In this respect Frizz is one of the most important characters to get right. I hope this bio will be able to help you get an idea of him and hopefully you can point out flaws so that his character may become better.

     If Frizz can be described in one word he is human. What I mean when I say that is that Frizz represents what man can do. Man is a flawed creature, but he is capable of so much. Man is capable of so much wickedness, yet there can be so much good from man. But, so many men fall prey to carnal desires and never turn back. Frizz represents the man who realizes his evils and turns away ultimately becoming a virtuous person. There are many other themes with Frizz I wish to explore. But, this theme is crucial and makes his character and journey.

     Personally, Frizz is quite timid around others. This is likely due in part with him being in a precarious situation of being suspected as a creature of Eclipse. However, Frizz continues moving on hoping for the best. This social isolation led him to becoming introverted and naturalistic. Frizz often takes walks around the hilly division alone. Frizz will sometimes stare into the sky above and watch the ever moving Llumis. Seeing everyone else have friends Frizz wished he could have some too. There were some who cared for him like Vernanda and Kufu, but Frizz didn’t see them as friends due to them being much older.

     Upon saving Rendura from Jabayra caverns and befriending her, Frizz begins to become clingy. This sentiment spreads to the rest of the main party as they are each introduced. Frizz doesn’t want to lose any of them and become isolated again. In doing so he also develops severe perfectionism. Frizz was already a humble individual. However, he becomes enwrapped by the idea that he isn’t good enough for his friends. This perfectionism and self hatred becomes engrained with his character to where he almost look completely different comparing to the beginning of WOI. Frizz continues this struggle until sometime changes at Mystic Swamp (can't go one 'cause spoilers).

     Frizz is based upon a grey British short-hair cat. I chose this animal for several reasons. The inhabitants of light can always be divided into six categories. Felines don’t fit any category and thus creates the discrimination towards Frizz as some inhabitants fear he may be a creature of Eclipse. The reason for being a cat is his fishing job and how cats are often alone and stray. The reason for being grey is the idea that he doesn’t represent a purely good or purely evil side of humanity. He is a mish mash of the goods and bads. Thus, grey represents his character very well. I also chose grey for the convenience of the artist as Frizz wears a long black coat and having Frizz be a black cat could cause problems for differentiating the coat from fur. As mentioned Frizz wears a long black coat with deep pockets for putting in useful tools and gadgets for fishing. Frizz never changes the coat throughout the story but does change his pants and undershirt. Often, he will wear a shade of blue shirt with either khaki or grey pants. He wears brown boots with a coat of dark blue beneath the boot. Frizz is the second shortest of the party with a height of five feet and two inches.

     I hope that this bio gave an idea of what Frizz is like within the story of WOI. He is the main protagonist so please give every bit of critique you can. I want this character to be one of the most famous protagonist of the modern era. So, please critique and give your thoughts.

Coxwell, the main antagonist (Characters)

 

Coxwell, the main antagonist. (Characters)

     Long ago there was a boy and he was alone. So, he created a world for him to explore called the Land of Light. He explored with his new friend Koralf all around. Soon he wanted more friends and he created the inhabitants of light. There he would live so long happy and loved. Then the boy saw the inhabitants as man and left them with the creatures of Eclipse. The boy then tried the experiment again and again. Each time the boy realized that he couldn’t escape man. So, he regretted creating them and sent the Eclipse to wipe them out. The boy retreated with Koralf to a world all to himself called Shimigari. There he would reside until spotting a peculiar figure named Frizz.

 

     Coxwell is the main antagonist of WOI. Coxwell is the originator of the creatures of Eclipse that are plaguing the world. Coxwell sees the worlds he created as imperfect and full of evil. So, he wishes to wipe them out with the Eclipse. Yet, he also wants to protect the worlds he created. Realizing that the Eclipse destroy both man and world he wished to get rid of them. He is unable to get rid of the creatures despite being god (there is a reason but no spoilers). He then saw Frizz as his way of defeating the creatures. Wishing Frizz to defeat the creatures of Eclipse Coxwell gave Frizz Desmos, a weapon infused with the power to imagine. With this power Frizz begins his journey to save the people and worlds from the Eclipse.

 

     Frizz’s goal in WOI is to find acceptance and purpose in his life. Coxwell opposes Frizz’s goal by threatening the world and Frizz. Frizz feels obligated to defeat the creatures of Eclipse because they will destroy everything if he doesn't. But, once the Eclipse is destroyed then Coxwell will be able to destroy everyone while preserving the world. Effectively leaving just Frizz and Coxwell by themselves. So, Frizz cannot find acceptance and purpose in his life with Coxwell and the Eclipse standing in the way.

 

     Coxwell appears as a child in height and attitude. He wears a mask that appears ancient in nature (search up oldest mask in the world to get a vague idea of what the mask looks like) and wears a long lacerated black robe. Coxwell is ignorant of others and prideful, only thinking of himself. But, Coxwell has an exception to Koralf who he treats alright. Likely due to how Koralf is the only person who has been there for Coxwell.

 

     There are many things that I have not discussed with Coxwell such as his motivations, design, and larger role. However, I can assure that I will post about these topics when the time comes. For now though please critique and even nitpick this character as a protagonist is only as good as the antagonist.

 

NOTE: Most ideas with Coxwell have been developed however for the sake of spoilers I will hold back on publishing for some time. This should be enough information on his fundamentals to allow for critique. If any character needs a lot of critique its this guy.
